Our people are our greatest asset they are the heart of our business. Our clients also tell us that we are great to work with.
C8 believes in giving back.  That’s why we pride ourselves on developing and running initiatives that benefit local businesses and the wider community.
Recognising a lack of networking opportunities in the Thames Valley, C8 established this highly successful senior-level networking forum in 2007.
C8 spotted the need to provide local businesses with a measure of economic and business confidence.

The Thames Valley Business Barometer

The Thames Valley Business Barometer is a collaboration between BDO LLP and C8 Consulting, providing a snapshot of business and economic confidence in the Thames Valley twice a year.

As well as focusing on economic confidence, growth and employment intentions, the spring 2018  Barometer will be putting the spotlight on environmental responsibility of businesses; from air pollution on the up to Microplastic pollution in oceans, environmental issues have continued to hit the headlines recently and, on a regular basis. For this reason, it seemed only right that this should be our themed topic for our survey so we can get a local level prospective on an issue that will affect every one of us.

The latest barometer survey is now live and will be open to Thames Valley businesses for six weeks.

Survey results will be published and circulated at the end of the year. If you would like to participate, the survey can be accessed here. You can also download a hard-copy of the survey and return it to either of the following addresses:

Ian White, BDO LLP, Kings Wharf, 20-30 Kings Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 3EX

Paula Elliott, C8 Consulting, 200 Brook Drive, Reading, Berkshire, RG2 6UB

The latest Business Barometer also looked at the changing face of the work place and, in particular, flexible working practices and use of technology.

While flexible and agile working will not be for everyone and some businesses do not easily lend themselves to this way of working, most of businesses (83%) agreed on the fact that this way of working allows for a better work-life balance and staff retention. Moreover, half of those surveyed expect to see these working practices continue to become more common as improvements in mobile and cloud enabled technologies allow more people to work anywhere and at any time, whilst changing attitudes and expectations among employers and staff will encourage these changes to take place.

This time around, 110 businesses across the Thames Valley took part in the Barometer survey. Assuria, ResMed, Collard Group, Network Critical and Oxford Space Systems are also profiled in the report, sharing their perspectives on their own performance and the key challenges they face in the run up to GDPR.
